Day 1-5 | Acne supplements 1 month try-out...

Hiya
If you haven't already checked out my previous post, go and check it out now as it explains what this month's post will be all about!

Taking daily supplements: Vitamin B6, C, D, magnesium and zinc

Okay, so I took a few photos to show you the current state of my skin. Which was very combination, itchy, reallyyy sore and wasn't good for my self esteem. Nothing beats the awfulness of sore skin, even when I have a big breakout, I just want to run home and scrub my skin.
I have and will keep track of my skin on a day to day basis, in a little notebook- and will transfer the notes onto here. So let's dive in...

  • Day 1: Mainly large boils, some are flaky, sore skin, feel ugly. combination

  • Day 2: Slightly less sore, still combination. Feel better in myself, placebo?

  • Day 3: Not ideal, was feeling ill- so skin was worse, but staying positive

  • Day 4: Didn't feel good in my skin, very oily. Wanted to avoid strong lights

  • Day 5: Sooo ill - dry, flaky skin, looks awful, but boils have overall decreased - loads of blackheads, needs a deep exfoliation. Itchy, keep picking at it.

Of course, no major changes, as true results take time. But my skin is certainly less painful! Which is great, and I'm feeling optimistic for how the month progresses!

1-month acne medication tryout...

So, I haven't got anything about my previous, and long-winded, acne journey on this blog- but I want to share this mini journey I'm doing, so that I can keep an online journal of how it went/goes, and maybe interest others into doing the same.

Okay so little bit of background, my acne is hereditary and I've had it as long as I can remember (even started in primary school!). You have to remember severe acne is a skin condition so, we who suffer from it aren't dirty or unhygienic.
Now let me tell you, when I say I've tried everythingggg. I. Have. Tried. EVERYTHING. all different types of medication, regimes, washes, masks, techniques, everything. But I'll share with you those experiences at a later date. That being said, my skin has improved dramatically in the past two years, maybe not to some people's standards, but it's so much clearer now.

Anyhow, after finally getting off of conventional acne medication- which has nasty side effects- my best friend gave me some herbal tablets, which I had taken something similar to when I was younger. They worked nicely, and actually gave me a confidence boost (placebo from the herbal ingredients? Maybe), and I liked how it gave you the option to take up to 3 a day, whenever in the day. Which my previous, stronger medication didn't allow, I had to take them at certain times and couldn't consume certain things in a time-frame after the tablets.

So I found my wonder-drug, the herbal HRI Clear Complexion. But, just my luck, they stopped manufacturing them, due to understandable reasons- but that wasn't okay for me.
Here I am, panicking - as I do over small crisis'- not wanting to go back to harsh medication since I prefer to live a more natural life, plus it took me ages to wean myself off of them.

[if HRI do start producing the tablets again, I strongly recommend them since there are no side effects - unless you have allergies]

The thing is, I know everything there is to know about acne, after dealing with it in it's severity for about a decade it only makes sense for me to. So I knew there was alternative things I could take, but when the offer of harsh drugs that say they'll clear up your skin instantly, you forget everything else and consume those religiously.

So my mother did some research for me, her results were things I already knew, but totally disregarded before since I was on other medication. So, as you may know, many acne sufferers are noticeably deficient in vitamin D. And to help you build up your vitamin D levels, one should consume it with magnesium. Vitamin C and Zinc (something I wasn't supposed to consume with my previous tablets) are also meant to improve skin dramatically.

I went out with my mother to buy these supplements from Sainsburys. As you can see the magnesium tablets are combined with vitamin B6, which is meant to be great for women so I had no issues adding that to the mix. I started on the 1st of October, and will document how it goes throughout the month. I will write about the first five days in a new post since this is getting rather long.

Third attempt...

Hi,

I've wanted to have a blog for years. Well technically I've had a blog for years but not an active one.

Due to having more free-time, I've decided to re-start my blog so that I can post regularly.

So since my last post in 2014, where I was admiring the beauty of natural hair, I've begun a natural hair journey this year - and will be documenting that. As well my clean, plant-based lifestyle; style; makeup; even my acne journey and how to aid others in helping theirs.

Anyway that's it for now, and hope to post as much as possible.
